November 2019

Dear Friend of OGT MAB,

Happy First Sunday in Advent! Today begins the season of promise and hope. Anticipation of the Savior’s coming motivates and reminds us we labor not for our own self-satisfaction but for the welfare of others.

Coming up on December 11th – For the first time in branch history we are loading a container for Ukraine. Mark your calendars for the second Wednesday in December and come to the warehouse at 9 am. Refreshments will be served, and if the weather’s too chilly, you can warm up in the breakroom. 😉

Grant-Match Opportunity Reminder – The December 8th deadline is a week off, so there’s still time to mail in your check. We are nearing $7,000 in donations! Any amount you contribute will be doubled dollar-for-dollar up to $10,000, for a potential total of $20,000. This is our primary fund-raiser for the year; please prayerfully consider a generous donation, we cannot reach our goal without you. Opportunities such as this help pay shipping costs to destinations like Ukraine.

KAH Meals for Ukraine – ‘Thank you’ to Heather Griesser, of KAH Philadelphia, for organizing our MAB meal-packing event at her Broomall warehouse on November 2nd. Members of Christ Memorial Lutheran Church Malvern joined her team to pack almost 21,000 meals, all going to Ukraine. Thanks goes to Rob Hall for transporting the boxed meals to our warehouse.

Dansko Donates Shoes – On November 13th we welcomed a 3-man delivery team that brought 27 cases of shoes to our warehouse. That’s over 400 pairs! Thank you so much, Dansko! We hope there are more to come.

Girl with a Mission – Kayelee Ryan, a senior at Great Valley High School in Malvern, PA, heard about Orphan Grain Train at Christ Memorial Lutheran Church, where she and her family are members. Inspired to demonstrate her faith, Kayelee looked for ideas to help children on the OGT website. The result? 100 backpacks of school supplies that she personally delivered to our warehouse on November 20th. School children in Ukraine will love them. Thank you, Kayelee, for setting such a good example of what volunteer leadership can do!

A Final Word on Boscov’s – Last month I reported a preliminary figure of $4,600 for our Friends Helping Friends fundraiser. In actually, we did $4,741; a new record! Every October we wonder if the event will be a success, and every time the Lord continues to amaze us.
Looking back over our first year in the Jennersville warehouse we see how God blesses us with so many good gifts. In Advent, we remember the greatest gift of all, God’s Son, to whose glory we dedicate all our work. Come join us in this mission!

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights.”  James 1:17a
See you at the warehouse!
Carla
